Pöschel and Rosenberg 2010: Boolean Clones — Official Excerpt

The archived official excerpt defines composition, generated clones, maximal clones, and several relation-preservation classes. It ends immediately before the promised Boolean completeness criterion and must not be mistaken for the full chapter.

book Compositions and Clones of Boolean Functions (Official Excerpt, pp. 3–10) Pöschel, Reinhard, Rosenberg, Ivo · 2010 originalarchived pdf

This archive contains only the official excerpt of Reinhard Pöschel and Ivo Rosenberg's chapter “Compositions and Clones of Boolean Functions,” not the full chapter. The ten physical pages include a part title, a blank page, and printed chapter pages 3–10. Every page was read and visually inspected.

What the excerpt supports #

Printed pages 3–8 define composition of Boolean functions, the clone generated by a set of functions, the full clone, and maximal clones. Fact 1 on printed page 8 gives the general test: a family is complete exactly when it is contained in no maximal clone.

Printed pages 9–10 introduce preservation of 00 and 11, self-duality, monotonicity through the Boolean order relation, and the affine/parity relation. These definitions provide a modern vocabulary for the obstruction classes.

What it does not support #

The excerpt ends immediately before the chapter's promised completeness criterion. It does not print the complete list of the five maximal Boolean clones or give the full historical-to-modern crosswalk. GTK pairs it with Gonda's fully read five-class account for that result. The filename, registry title, and this note all retain “excerpt” so a future reader cannot confuse ten pages with the complete chapter.
